LIHEAP is a Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program that helps to keep families safe and healthy through initiatives that assist with energy costs. LIHEAP is a seasonal program that assist with heating and cooling costs. Please note that all services are provided by appointment only.
LIHEAP Program
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is available to all income eligible households in Fulton County and the City of Atlanta. This program offers a payment of up to $1,000 – once per program year to be applied to your home energy bill.

When can I apply?
LIHEAP Heating
We will open the appointment scheduler on Monday, December 1, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. for Seniors 65+. Scheduling for the general population will start Monday, January 5, 2026 @ 11:00 A.M. for the general population.
Our service hours are 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. We are closed for lunch from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. We will continue to take applications by appointment until funds are exhausted or March 2026.

What documents are required?
Please bring copies of all required documents to your scheduled appointment.
- Current gas bill and electric bill (Must show your name, full address, account number, and amount due.)
- Proof of income for the last 30 days for all household members over 18 years old. Any household member with No Income must complete a zero-income form during the appointment.
- Social Security cards for all household members
- Valid Photo ID (Driver’s License, Permanent Resident Card, Passport, etc.)
If someone is representing an applicant, they must provide a copy of their state ID and a signed letter from the applicant giving permission for the representative to sign on their behalf.
Are you in a crisis?
If you are in a crisis, we can ONLY service the first 10 walk-ins every Monday - Thursday,starting at 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
CRISIS Requirements:
• Have a disconnection notice
• Service is in imminent danger of disconnection within the next seven (7) days
• Service has been terminated
• Household meets the basic eligibility criteria
ALL DOCUMENTS MUST BE PRINTED OFF!
Please note:
• The 10 Walk-ins include clients who services are completely off.
• We cannot service FINAL or WRITTEN OFF accounts.
• Your Past due amount cannot exceed the amount you are eligible to receive.
