LIHEAP Program

LIHEAP is a Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program that helps to keep families safe and healthy through initiatives that assist with energy costs. LIHEAP is a seasonal program that assist with heating and cooling costs. Please note that all services are provided by appointment only.

LIHEAP Program

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is available to all income eligible households in Fulton County and the City of Atlanta. This program offers a payment of up to $1,000 – once per program year to be applied to your home energy bill.

What are the income guidelines?

In households with 9+ persons, add $1,906 for each additional household member.

What documents are required?

Please bring copies of all required documents to your scheduled appointment.

  • Current gas bill and electric bill (Must show your name, full address, account number, and amount due.) 
  • Proof of income for the last 30 days for all household members over 18 years old. Any household member with No Income must complete a zero-income form during the appointment.
  • Social Security cards for all household members
  • Valid Photo ID (Driver’s License, Permanent Resident Card, Passport, etc.)

If someone is representing an applicant, they must provide a copy of their state ID and a signed letter from the applicant giving permission for the representative to sign on their behalf.

When can I apply?

LIHEAP Heating

We will open the appointment scheduler on Monday, December 1, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. for Seniors 65+. Scheduling for the general population will start Monday, January 5, 2026 @ 11:00 A.M. for the general population.

Our service hours are 9am - 3:30pm. We are closed for lunch from 1pm - 2pm. We will continue to take applications by appointment until funds are exhausted or March 2026.

Are you in a crisis?

If you are in a CRISIS, we ONLY service the first 10 walk-ins every Monday - Thursday, starting at 9am until 3pm.

CRISIS Requirements:

  • Have a disconnection notice
  • Service is in imminent danger of disconnection within the next seven (7) days
  • Service has been terminated
  • Household meets the basic eligibility criteria

    Past due amount cannot exceed the amount you are eligible to receive.

    To Prevent Delays

    Please arrive early for your appointment and have all documents photocopied. Documents cannot be on your phone.
